Our Mission
With Jesus Christ as our Cornerstone, we share the Love of God, create disciples, and transform lives for Him.
Our Story
These pictures tell our story. Central Church is about people, service to others, worship, mission outreach, inspiring hope, and putting our Christian faith into action.

Each picture is a story in itself! People, personalities, and places are the core of our congregation. We honor each individual who makes Central Church a living reflection of Christ's love and call to action to make the world a better place. Join us as we put our Christian faith into action.
We Believe...
-
In one triune God; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
-
That God sent his Son, JESUS CHRIST, into the world, for our salvation.

-
That Jesus died for us on the cross, was buried, and rose from the dead, triumphant over death.

-
That He will come again.
Our belief system defines not only our approach to faith but how we govern ourselves.
Ours is a representative form of government, as we democratically elect people from our congregation to serve as representatives to our church board, the Session, where decisions are made by majority rule.
Presbyterians believe that there are two sacraments, and only two: Baptism, and the Lord's Supper (Communion, or the Eucharist).
Leadership
Our History
Central Church was founded as the Tarentum Cumberland Presbyterian Church in 1888.
The pastor of our mother congregation, Pleasant Unity Presbyterian Church in West Deer Township, sought to provide religious guidance to its members, as many of them began to move into this area as industry began to thrive.
Central has experienced much in its long history but has remained constant in its approach to ministry, and its dedication to remaining a "neighborhood" congregation. Central Church continues to function daily as a center for community activity.
Congregational Life
Our congregation believes in working and serving together. We believe that we are the hands and feet of Christ in the world, and are here in this place to make disciples so that His kingdom might increase.
We believe that we have the potential to make a difference in the world for His sake - with faith as small as a mustard seed, we can plant seeds of faith in people, in our community, and in society that can sprout and grow into fortresses of faith for all to enjoy!
Staff
The staff at Central Church is committed to teaching and service. Each person understands the difference that faith can make in the lives of ordinary people and seeks to share that faith with others.
Central's staff is dedicated to building meaningful relationships with Christ and each other as we share His love, create disciples, and grow in our Faith journey, transforming lives along the way!

Our staff brings experience, commitment, and energy to all aspects of our ministry. They enable Central Church to reach into the lives of our congregation, our community, and our partner organizations to serve Christ.
